WELCOME
Welcome to the Nadia Reisenberg – Clara Rockmore Foundation website. We are a family owned and operated non-profit Foundation, founded in 2004 by the late Robert Sherman, to honor these two renowned musicians and extraordinary sisters, who rank among the great women of the 20th Century.
Our Foundation celebrates their artistry, and works to maintain and enhance the impact of their legacies, as we support new creative projects across the globe, from college theses to Hollywood feature films. To wit:
- We support musicians, authors, artists, filmmakers, choreographers, academics, journalists, inventors, and creators in all fields who find importance, beauty, meaning and influence in Nadia and Clara’s music and lives.
- We serve as a resource of accurate information, stories, history and anecdotes about these two women for authors, journalists, filmmakers and other creators.
- We produce CD recordings of Nadia and/or Clara’s music, some re-released and some never-before-released, and all remastered for top sound quality. To date, we have produced over a dozen CD recordings, and have more to go…
- We license and provide digitally remastered audio files from most of these CD recordings by Nadia and/or Clara for use in films, videos, dance works, and all manner of creative endeavors.
- We license and provide restored professional quality photographs of Clara and Nadia from various eras in their lives, for use in academic or editorial publications, artworks, TV & movies, and all such creative projects.
- We license and loan a limited number of historic artifacts, documents, letters and materials for museum exhibitions or major publications, in conjunction with the University of Maryland Music Archives and International Piano Archives.
- We offer specialty items such as Clara’s METHOD FOR THEREMIN booklet (free of charge), which features 12 daily exercises and practical instructions (along with philosophical bon mots) on playing the theremin.
- We have produced one coffee-table book on Nadia’s life, “Nadia Reisenberg – A Musician’s Scrapbook” written by her sons, Robert and Alexander Sherman, and we continue to work with musician / author David McGill on his definitive biography of Clara Rockmore, now very close to completion.
And finally, we offer some of Nadia’s and Clara’s CDs in exchange for a tax deductible donation to our Foundation. These are MUST HAVES for collectors and true fans… those who want more than just an audio download, but who also want to enjoy the special CD booklets, featuring unique stories, photos, anecdotes and historic references.
We are a 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit Foundation, and ALL proceeds and donations go exclusively to support and further our activities, projects and mission.
We welcome your ideas, thoughts, feedback, and remembrances. Please email me with any questions, comments or concerns, and of course let me know if you are seeking photos, music, CDs or other materials.
Enjoy this website. Thank you for your interest in Nadia Reisenberg and Clara Rockmore.
In peace,
Steve
